help and support to Amiga users nearby. This list is international, and not limited
to the German language countries.
New rare demos at Ami Sector One
At Ami Sector One, some very rare demos can be found which are not available on Aminet
or Funet. Among others, you can download e.g. "Gate Megademo 1" and "Gate Megademo 2"
form the group "Gate" from there.
AmigaImpact already offers Amiga news in French since October 1999. This way, a wonderful
cooperation begins, since we can provide each other with news about Amiga, making up a
perfect match :-).

CD32 games or hardware, you are at the right place there.
Sharks! CD32-Edition no longer "Powered by CD32-Alliance"!
At this place, I want to announce that the upcoming CD32 game Sharks!, coded by
Christian Steiner, is no longer supported (powered) by the CD32 Alliance. I dont
want to name reasons at this place.
Current information about the games progress can be gathered directly from the
programmer: c-steiner@t-online.de, or
simply his homepage at the title link.
Java-Installation for Linux and Wind*ws
The documentation about the installation of java was extended. Now there are
different sections which describe how to install Java (JRE 1.2.x) and
Swing under Linux and under Wind*ws. Additional there are some special
scripts for Wind*ws available which make the installation very easy - only
some mouseclicks are necessary now.
JavaRunner 1.1 for Linux (PPC and 86x86) and Wind*ws
The new version 1.1 is now available. A bug was removed which took effect only
under Linux and some special abilities were included. So the JavaRunner now
tries to create the CLASSPATH-environment-variable if it doesn't exists.
Additional V 1.1 works perfect with the new JRE 1.2.x.

New software for MROOCHECK PC-Wheel-Mouse-Interface by Elbox
New software for Wheel support for MROOCHECK PC Mouse Interface. Also included in this
release is FreeWheel - the commodity which converts wheelmouse events into scrollbar
movement or cursor key movements. It can also map several useful functions to the wheel
button, and a fourth mouse button. Read more in ReadMeFirst.
The Mroocheck interface guarantees full compatibility of these devices with Amiga
computers (wheel and extra button functions included). The basic advantage over the
solutions, which are based around connecting mouses to the Amiga serial port is that
a mouse/trackball connected through the Mroocheck interface is active as soon as in
the early-startup-menu, not only after the computer software drivers are started.
Obviously enough, Mroocheck does not block the serial port in Amiga.
Toms Commodore Emulation Website
Tom has recieved permission by Dave Haynie to post some of his
videos from his
time at Commodore, West Chester, PA as .mpg. All in all, six different .mpg

Regarding the article above, we recieved the following counter-reply from Pierre Prestel, which we
release unchanged:
Pierre Prestel [http://Amiga.Ac]
Admin@Amiga.Ac [mailto:Admin@Amiga.Ac]
30. March 2000
COUNTER-REPLY!
On the internet site "http://www.amiga-news.de/archiv/news0003.shtml",
my article from March 23rd, 2000 was changed by the Amiga-News.De editors,
to make the following incorrect claim:
Post Scriptum 28.03.2000:
Article removed, since it seems to be an early April Fools joke.
----------
Herewith I make use of my right to have a counter-reply published!
My article, where I promised a free .pc domain including unlimited
webspace to the first 50 people sending in an e-mail, has been removed
to make the incorrect claim that it seems like an early April Fools
joke. This is a FALSE claim which probably was intended to reduce my
creditibility and the status of the Amiga search engine http://Amiga.Ac.
Once again I want to confirm that all of the first 50 people sending in
an e-mail (which have not been reached so far) will recieve the promised
domain including unlimited webspace.
Pierre Prestel
System-Administrator
Note from the editors:
1. ICANN "Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number" -
Authority for CCTLDs (CountryCodeTopLevelDomain) - has only accepted a single new CCTLD since its
founding, "ps" standing for Palestina. There are no informations about accepting a "pc" CCTLD.
2. IANA "Internet Assigned Numbers Authority" - Authority in IP
issues - maintains the list of all valid CCTLDs for the ICANN, and also does not list an CCTLD "pc".
3. Only the name server available at amiga.ac lists the CCTLD "pc". None of the worldwide, centralized
name servers on the internet knows this CCTLD. This means that persons who want to surf to a subdomain
of the CCTLD "pc" have to tell their TCP/IP stack to use the nameserver amiga.ac first.
For the above reasons, we (the editors) dont think that a claim for counter-reply is valid. In the
interest of finding the truth, we of course accepted the text above for official release.
Linux concepts: device management under Linux
The free Linux information service linuxinfo.de put the third part of the Linux concepts series online. This part is covering the device management under Linux. The text is as usual available in the Dokumentation / Konzepte

Planetamiga Austria presents a completely renewed online offer
Planetamiga is proposing a completely reworked and at the same time the first Amiga online shop featuring a shoppingkart system in Austria since today. After the former version of the Planetamiga site had somewhat aged, Planetamiga decide to realise a completely new idea. The design and structure of the page is decent, but the contents is expandable.
Most interesting for austrian Amiga users might become the Planetamiga-Newsletter which does not only send actual information about the Amiga directly to the private mailbox, but will also inform about the most recent deals. Planetamiga is also planning a bannerfree Webinterface for webmasters. Since this is not ready it will not be described yet.

Indiana Jones 4 part 2
Robert Konrad, PR-manager of "Indy Project", writes:
As you can see on http://indyproject.de (title link), there will be an
Amiga version of Indy Project. I will see after it. Perhaps I will need
some more people, perhaps I am good enough myself until then to handle it myself.
See, it will take some time until the game is close to completion, and before
starting the port makes sense. I don't expect major problems with the port,
but there won't be a disk version :-(
If there are still some Turrican fans around, you should have a look at

Wanted: Information about CDTV!
To continue development, or to re-engineer the CDTV released 1990, I am looking
for contacts to the manufacturer / the programmers of the CDTV software. Sadly, the
manufacturer company seems to be out of business, so I ask the readers.
This is what I know: Manufacturer: Digital Creations
Programmers involved: Bill Barton, John Botteri, Randy Jongens, and David
Porter
If anyone has informations about this, it would be great if you'd contact me
at stefan.robl@tirnet.de!

Alive Mediasoft with new website
Alive new web site is finally open with a host of new features, new games,
new hardware, and serious software. As a special welcome back present,
for a limited period Alive's game Blade will be available for free
download. (Please read the legal terms before downloading).
So now all you have to do is go and have a look...
But be warned - the site is experiencing very heavy traffic, and although
we've increased our band width to the largest account available, you may
still get a request for a time-out. If this happens, please come back later.
NEW Pulse Soon
The Pulse Issue 12 is just around the corner. We are giving you an advance
opportunity to request your copy now, as all 2500 copies of issue 11 were
requested in advance and went on the day they arrived from the printers.
As we've had a good response from issue 11, we may consider increasing this
run to 3000 if demand is high enough, but we must know within the next week.

bugs to fix before the game can be produced. We are looking for a release date
by the end of April 2000.
New Aminet uploads
We are currently relocating the main site to us.aminet.net. On the first
mirror, there already are new files; by the time this article is posted,

however.

will only be implemented in DA III. News and screenshots of DA III will be
released regulary on the homepage. An Aminet upload is currently not possible.
.Amiga too long as a domain ending!
Starting April 2nd, 2000, there is a new top level domain on the net: .PC
As introductionary present, we give away 50 domains FREE with free-of-charge
web hosting and as many free e-mail accounts as you want. Everyone being among
the first 50 until April 2nd, gets a .pc domain and a chance to reserve a really
unique domain name for himself. Domains are not passed out to buyers before
April 3rd! And this is how it works:
Simply send an e-mail to DomainNIC@Intermail.Nu, containing the .pc domain name
wanted and a personal password. If the domain is NOT to be hosted by us, we also
need the technical information for rooting. The acceptance of a free domain does
not imply any commitments, and there won't be advertising banners. Sponsored by:
Amiga-Accelerator - Search Engine for Amiga-People! http://Amiga.Ac
PS: Pierre Prestel posted to the ANF
that, due to the theft of the .nu domains, the e-mail address for the .pc giveaway
is no longer valid. If you want to participate, should use Admin@Amiga.Ac instead.
Details can be found on http://Amiga.Ac.
PlayGUI 2.6 available

new graphics by the user.

Mitchy back online!
After the server move, the link directory of Amiga.org Mitchy is back online
with many improvements and new layout. Mitchy now has its own domain and can
be reached directly under http://search.amiga.org/.
Alive Mediasoft website down
Within 6 hours of Alive's new web site being launched, we have exceeded our
monthly traffic allowance! As we are already on our providers premium gold
account we cannot increase the bandwidth any further with them. The site is
still there but many people are find it impossible to get on as it's just
too busy. We are in contact with several larger internet providers to find
someone to cope with the traffic. As soon as we find one we'll move the
site and hopefully see no more problems.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but do keep trying - you never know it may
calm down in the next few day!
Graphical Artists Competition
APRIL GRAPHICAL ARTISTS COMPETITION
OOSTERHOUT (NB)-NL -- 24/3/00 -- C&C · Logo and Design, an innovative and
Benelux based designing company, is looking for a Graphical Artist by ways
of competition.
Up to the 30th of April 2000 we welcome any graphical artist, who is
interested in doing some parttime work for our company, to join the
contest.
All the details can be found at our website http://www.designburo.nl
300 gigabyte harddisk comes
«The harddisk manufacturer Seagate has achieved a new record regarding
data density. The company succeeded in saving a density of 45 gigabit per
inch square [7 gigabit per centimeter square]. Converted to a regular harddisk
with five metal drives this results in a harddisk size of 300 gigabyte.»
Launch of www.amigan.com
On April 3rd http://www.amigan.com will launch. My work DNS server just
picked it up this morning, so do not be distressed if it does not come up,
it exists I assure you :) (look at www.qwhois.com to see). This is web site
is owned by the newly formed Grapevine Computers Inc., and will eventually
include many features, at this point I'm not sure which ones will be
operational at launch date. It is being run on a fully Pearl/CGI enabled
Linux web server with a secure site certifcate for secure online purchases.
The idea behind this corporation is that it will be 100% owned by Amiga
users, and at launch date users may purchase shares of stock no matter where
in the world they live (We've contacted the IRS on how to do this). We want
to compete with the very few online vendors of Amiga products that have a
monoply like effect selling upgrade parts and replacement parts for very
high prices for classic Amiga. We will also be a dealer for the new Amiga.
I've contacted Bill McEwen but I haven't heard back from him (he's a busy
guy I'm sure), to get the offical Amiga blessing. All shareholders will get
a discount on items for sale, and right now were planning on members of the
board of directors getting products at cost. Shares of common stock will be
sold for $1 US, and anyone can purchase a few as one share. It is a
privately held close corporation, in in will operate pursuant to the Texas
Close Corporation Act (my lawyer talking there).
We're also looking for a couple people. One, someone to translate the site into German
and and server as a coordinator and contact for operations for German.
Second, someone to serve as a cordinator and contact for operations in
England. Stock will be traded in consideraton for these positions, and they
will eventually will be paying positions when we get off the ground. This
is by no means full time (it's not going to be full time for me either, even
though my girlfriend sure thinks it is). Interested persons can e-mail
president@amigan.com . If their DNS servers are not updated yet, they can
e-mail tom@grapevinecomputers.com .
Further details will be released on April 3rd on the website. Anyone having quesitons can e-mail me.
Thanks, Tom Kisner, President/CEO, Grapevine Computers
Program updates
As the AminetServer is currently down I would like to remind that all my
software projects are available for download on my website (title link).
Some programs were updated (e.g. RAWBInfo, PrintManager, IcoDT,...) since
the server was down.
Two new games (Website currently down)
Alive Mediasoft will publish two new games in April: Super Taekwondo Master
and Cedric and the Search for the Magic Sceptre. Super Taekwondo Master is
a 2D action simulation with one- and two-player modes.
Cedric and the Search for the Magic Sceptre is an action role-playing game
in which you play the role of the heroic Cedric who undyingly fell in love
with the daughter of the king. This love is reciprocated, but of course the
king won't let his daughter marry a commoner. One day the king's magic sceptre
is stolen, and Cedric now gets the chance to raise his reputation by returning
the sceptre. In the process, Cedric has to master some adventures.
UniView v40.6 update
Yesterday, I uploaded a new version 40.6 of my MultiView replacement UniView

on my A4000/060/OS3.5.
New features: Multiple windows, AppIcon, selectable screenmode etc. UniView
is Shareware, but without limitations.

MicroServ.org: Online again!
Sadly, we were forced offline for some days due to water damage. Now, the
phone company has installed a new cable, and everything is online again.
We want to say sorry for any harassment this has caused to you, but we couldnt
do anything about this. Since everything has been started up again, we want to
ask all users to check their accounts and passwords, and report any inconsistencies.
AmigaTools.net News
http://www.amigatools.net has been completely updated on Thursday (e.g. now
including HTML4.0 check). All download files have been retranslated and
re-uploaded last week; partly because the gateway.library has been changed,
and some basic changes have been applied to the libraries and libs.
Today, two uploads have been added:
VersCheck V2 has been updated (primarily changes to MUI due to the
many changes by VAPOR).
VersCheck V3 beta is now on the download area. BETA means an incomplete
and buggy version.
If you want to, you can download the version and test it. Since some issues
are already known, and it makes the coordination easier, I created a mailing
list for all beta testers. So if you want to test, too, you should contact
me to get yourself added to the list. Wanted: Testers with Amiga clones
and emulators.
Smidge demo at Amiga Rediscovery
After Mikey Carillo had to cancel the Amiga Yellow Pages under
pressure of
the original Yellow Pages, he concentrated on his project "Amiga Rediscovery".
Here, he regularily released old game demos for download and explains at length
what is necessary to play them. Currently, Mikey offers the game "Smidge" for
download.
Amiga Active: Preview on issue 7 online
Aside from many reviews, e.g. on Heretic II and Diavolo Backup 2000, the digital
technology is main subject of the latest issue.
Digital Almanac III Brainstorming
If you are interested in the astronomy software Digital Almanac (DA), you can get the
latest development status about DA III (PPC) from the author's homepage. The most
important changes and improvements are presented there.
Moreover, the author is looking for reliable and determined beta testers and users
of DA II with good ideas that could be implemented in DA III. Right now, only the 68k
version is worked upon.
Requirements are (68k):
a well equipped Amiga (68040/40 or 68060/50, OS 3.5, 32 MB)
registered (!) MUI user
basic knowledge of astronomy and astronomic terms
programming experience in C (C++) and mathematic knowledge is advantegous
Apply by e-mail, stating knowledge and hardware.
As a reward, the software itself is free. A first (German) beta version for 68k will
probably be available by the end of April. Right now, only an English localisation
is planned. The time schedule for the PPC version is depending on DCE, so no dates
for this.
Forming a professional / commercial development team to work on AROS
My boss, Mr. Yourievski from the Sowatec AG has offered us a once-in-a-lifetime
chance: If enough people apply for working full time (incl. getting payed real
money :-) on AROS here in Switzerland, he will have a really good look at this
business opportunity. If he can see a way to make money with it, he will handle
everything necessary to get us going at full steam :-)
So if you think you're worthy ;-) and you can move (or already life) in Switzerland, send your resumee to:
Sowatec AG Witzbergstrasse 7 8330 Pfäffikon Switzerland
If you cannot move to Switzerland, then send your resmuee, anyway. Just note
that we need at least 5 developers here; when we reach that, then the rest can probably live anywhere :-)
Also note that this would greatly enhance our relationship with Amiga Inc
(because then, they would have a professional partner instead of a bunch of
hobby developers working on their spare time).
Please bother him only if you're interested in working full time on AROS.
All other inquiries should go to me
digulla@sowatec.com directly.
AWeb-II upgrade for OS 3.5 SE version

Yahoo: Comeback: Amiga reveales new system
"Amiga-CEO Bill McEwen announced a new system for the 1st of april. The new Amiga is still at developing
status but nonetheless so much evolved that a system will be played in a lottery at the Amiga 2000 conference in St. Louis.
Amiga also plans to reveal the precursor of a new operating system, which has been developed together with
Tao-Group and based on the Tao-OS Elate, at the Amiga 2000 in St. Louis. A cooperation with Epic and
Hyperion should bring new games to the Amiga."
Complete article (German) under the titellink.
Help Forum
You can find a help forum where Amiga users can help each other on the homepage following the titellink.
Click on the "Stefan1200's Amiga Seite" button and then "Hilfe-Forum" in the left frame. Furthermore
the homepage is now better suited for smaller resolutions since the left frame is somewhat smaller now.
New Amiga related IRC channel
Recently a new IRC server network has opened its connections to the world, and so I decided to register
an Amiga related chat channel there. It is called #amiga of course and runs on the krushnet.org servers.
Those servers are pretty fast and very reliable and therefore I would like to invite as many Amiga users
as possible to this new channel.
To get there type the following commands in you IRC client:
/server krushnet.org
/join #amiga
That's it. Hope to see you there :-)

C64 Specialists wanted (repost)
Note from the translator: This is a repost, since I fumbled with the layout
of the original post. Sorry. (mb)
Did the C64 work its charm on you fifteen years ago just like us? Well, probably the Amiga did that...?
The Commodore is out of production. But in the eighties, it was the favourite toy of that generation.
Today, it is catching dust in the basement or is used by a few musicians as strange sound machine. But
perhaps you can help us on our search. Perhaps you know exactly the people we have to ask.
WHO WE ARE?
We are two communications designers from Wiesbaden who grew up with the old C64. We were constantly
blamed for wasting our time with that "thing", instead of doing important things. We now catch up
on this. :-)
WHAT'S THE PLAN?
We want to publish our Thesis by the end of 2000: "Commodore 64 Culture" (working title), researching
this phenomenon. We want to show the culture that grew around the C64, and still exists today: The
8-bit machine as stange sound machine, nostalgic toy, collector's item. Experimental, playful,
multimedia. The accompaining CD-ROM will contain well-known songs as well as C64 emulators for
PC and Mac. A webpage is also planned, elaborating on the multimedia part of the book and linking
to other C64 pages.
WHAT WE ARE INTERESTED IN
We are interested in the world accompaining the C64: The history, technical details, sales numbers,
press reviews, games, crackers, hackers, first office applications, copy parties, the marketing
drive of Commodore, the demo scene, today's SID-Chip fans, the self build hardware extensions,
banner printing orgies, computer "summer camps", the booming software industry of the 80ies,
waiting for datasettes, sore fingers while typing listings and what is left of that today.
WHAT DO WE WANT FROM YOU?
Of course we have to do research. We need your help with that. We are collecting opinions, details,
background information, documentation from journalists, fans and developers. From the submissions,
we will create the compendium of the C64 culture. We are looking for every detail around the "bread box":
Every contact suggestion, whom to talk to, every website we can look at. And of course your story.
HOW TO START?
If you are interested in the project, contact us. Forefront, we want to know what kind of C64 user
you have been or still are. Please describe in a few sentences what you did back then. Of course we are
curious about any kind of stories. And of course we are looking for the answers to the most important
question: Why, do you think, has the C64 been so successful, and what did it start? Afterwards, we
will contact you, and would be happy if you could answer us a couple of questions. If you know someone
who is as interested in this subject as we are, send him this e-mail. In any case, you can subscribe
to our mailing list, if you want to know about our project's progress.
DEADLINE
Submissions should be send until end of April, since our thesis has a definite deadline. Many thanks
for your attention and help.

Eternity News
Spring has just arrived, and we have already something more to report:
World of Amiga & Atari
We will exhibit on the show taking place on March 20th/21st in the city hall Neuss.
Tales of Tamar will be shown as well as the "Exorzist" system based on Blizzard
technology. A new Exorzist system will also bee shown, provided all needed parts
are available until then.
Yesterday I wrote the last of the four exams that kept me away
from my beloved Workbench and caused the long delays between
updates to this site.
Starting immediately, news should appear here no longer than
36 to 48 hours after they appeared on the German main site
(just as they used to before the four riders appeared, and
their names were "Databases", "Business Science", "Industrial
Bookkeeping", and "Software Engineering"... ;-)).
I want to thank you for your patience. I want to thank Eric
Gillé, Jerry Withers, Guido Fehst, and Rüdiger
Hanke for helping me with translations. And I want to thank
Petra Struck for not tearing me apart for the delays (she
is very concerned about keeping her site up to date, you
have to know... ;-))
And most of all I thank my girl friend. This weekend I am
moving to her flat, and for the better part of Saturday
evening and Sunday morning, she had to do all the work on
her own while I was translating... :-/
Oh, and by the way: The Executive Update was news item #2500
at this location! Talk about timing... :-)
Heise: Nuclear clock signal of the PTB in Internet
As reported by the Heise Newsticker, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesamt now
offers the service of a nuclear precise clock in the Internet. To get the precise
time, you need special software. Aside from many other platforms, the Amiga was
respected, too. The software is freeware, started as commodity. The title link
points to the Heise news site, you get to the download area from there.
PlayGUI News
PLone, the PlayList add-on for PlayGui, has now been released as version 1.3, and can

I just implemented a forum hoping that it will be used. Just have a look.

note on the Amiga User List: On April 4th, the AUL celebrates 1st birthday. This will

most of you will like it for sure.

4D+ Internet Double Wheel Maus available
VMC now has available the NG4D+ Internet Mouse. It has 4 buttons and 2
directional wheels. The Mouse includes a specially designed Amiga driver,
which includes all functions of the mouse and it is fully compltible and
integrated with AmigaOS.
Horizontal and vertical scrolling are controlled by the 2 wheels. All
buttons are individually controlled by the driver software. Here some
< HREF="http://www.vmc.de/prd_vmc/ger_ng4dplus.html">technical details (German).
I have tested the VMC mouse. The installation on the serial port was
simple and the configuration of the commodity driver software very easy.
This mouse has a good feel to it, even though it is quite a bit higher that
what I am used to. This takes a while to get used to. The first few hours I
still scrolled in the old fashioned way, but once I got used to the
scrolling wheels I never want to be without them again. A few old games
that hit the mouse hardware will still require the old mouse to function,
but it still can remain connected without any problem. I can only recommend
this mouse! (ps)
Infrabox goes down in price
The InfraBox infrared remote control transceiver for Amiga computer is

BlackIRC 1.1 Freeware edition released
Our business is is shifting evermore into the graphic arts area and the
development of online products for servers and businesses. We therefore no
longer have the resources needed to continue BlackIRC development so we have decided
to release it as freeware. The integrated news service of BlackNews will be
taken over by amiga-news.de. We will however no longer support BlackIRC
because it is now freeware and support involves costs. Should anyone be
interested in further developing BlackIRC we are offering sourcecode
licences starting at 5000 DM.
BlackIRC is an IRC client for AMIGA with exceptional capabilities. Some
extras like XDCC, Bots, CTCP flood protection etc. are already implemented
in the client. Furthermore BlackIRC is the only Amiga IRC client allowing
video conferences.

version (more than 10 MB) at our site. Claim
WE STILL DO NOT HAVE THE LATEST VERSION OF STORM. We reported problems to the authors, and

nullsana.device
There are news about a new Sana2 driver called "nullsana". The device can interconnect its units to connect a
Macintosh TCP/IP stack with an Amiga TCP/IP stack. Thus it works similarly to vlink.device.
However the new device is faster, more flexibly configurable and is conform to the newest Sana2 V2 standard
including package filter and mutiple opened units. The device can be configure as Ethernet, SLIP, CSLIP and Loopback.
Ethernet RAW Frames for Shapeshifter are supported. Sana2 statistics are computed. Since Aminet Paderborn is down
you can download the device here.
Recall of the CD-ROM version Digital Almanac II
To the owners of the CD-ROM version of Digital Almanac II (V1.8.8):
Unfortunately the CD contains a bad bug. Amigans using OS 3.1 are particularly concerned. In this case installing
the main program from CD to harddisk will fail. So if you are belong to this group of people (approximately 15 CDs sold)
you may have the CD exchanged by sending it, along with DM 3.- in stamps (return-postage)
back to the author (not your retailer !!).
If you own OS 3.5 and if the installation doesn't start by double clicking on the installation icon, copy the
Installer V44 (!!) from your OS 3.5 CD-ROM to your harrdrive, to C: for example. As said before:
This exchange can only be claimed by people owning OS 3.1 and the Digital Almanac II (V1.8.8) CD-ROM version.
A new update (V1.8.9) is available at the author's homepage. The Aminet upload will be available as soon as
Paderborn will be online again.
PC-Welt: Burned by the joystick
"A part of the Nintendo 64 games collection "Mario Party" may cause hand injuries. This has been confirmed by
the US central of the game's manufacturer. Every owner of the video game will now be provided with security gloves
in the USA.
Following a statement of the New York federal prosecutor, many parents have complained over "Mario Party" at Nintendo
in the USA. They say their kids have injured their hands while playing at it. Parents report several kinds of
injuries like burnings, stitches, cuts etc..."
Nintendo have now agreed to deliver four fingerless gloves ,which are reinforced at the palm, to each
american Mario Party customer. This engagement may cost Nintendo up to 80 million dollars. Furthermore the
company will pay for the 75,000 dollars which cost the investigation by the federal prosecutor.
A call at the hotline 0130/5806 from our part showed that there have been no cases or complaints arround
here, at least for the moment. So this may simply be a too early "April Fool's" joke.
Scout-Source Fixpack
The original source could not be compiled since an include file was missing. The actual pachage is now working.
A Scout-fixpack exists for those who already downloaded the former package.
Heretic II status
Developing Heretic II is nearly at an end. If everything goes as planned, Heretic II will be

Aminet Paderborn down
As many have noticed already, the german AmiNET server is down. However only the german server
is concerned. The server in the USA, UK, Italy, Sweden... are still working. Those can be found
on my GUI under the corresponding country flag on the UpLoads-Page.
One thing concerning a personal matter: The switching to SSI of my GUI will be delayed since my
10GB harddrive has broken down. I have been trying for a week now to make it work with the FastATA3 controller.

AHX Ripper News
Kåre Johansen recently released the absolutely
last version of his AHX-Ripper (THX-Ripper) on his homepage.
Since many of the favourite module ripper are outdated and/or no longer in development, Kåre
plans to write a new ripper (Serial Ripper). This one will offer a fuctional MUI- (perhaps ClassAct,
AmigaOS3.5) interface and support as many sound formats as possible.
Since this is impossible without support from people with the knowledge about the many sound formats,
Kåre has opened a mailing list especially for this project.
Hyperion to port SIN to Amiga and Linux
Hyperion has aquired the license to port "SIN" by Activision Inc. to the Amiga and Linux
platforms. "We are working on completing our Amiga port of Activisions Heretic 2", says Ben
Hermans, Manager of Hyperion. Like Heretic 2, SIN bases on IDs Quake 2, so Hyperion is optimistic

and will support Warp3D by Hyperions OpenGL implementation.

Current infos on the CamX/Camouflage project Martin Endres is still looking
for developers who want to develop audio/video/MIDI modules for
CamX/Elate. Notation editor, sample editor, Uni-SysEx/editor and so on.
As CamX has a modular concept, several (e.g. notation editors) could
be added to the CamX packet. The user could decide then which editor
he wants to use. Or he can use all at once.

For using the driver, we recommend VLRec NG 4.0 :)

me at thomas.neidhardt@nbg6.siemens.de.
EASys! is continously worked upon. Details are available at the title link.
Amiga User Group 99 - Update
The vote count for February has been completed, and a new vote for March has been installed.
Additionally, our forum was opened.
Server failure
As one or another might have discovered already, the following URLs are currently unavailable:
www.amiga.ac (search engine) and www.amigatools.net (my homepage). Several e-mail accounts
and websites on www.microsoft.nu and www.intermail.nu as well as several other domains located
on the same server.
Reason: The cable modem connecting the server to the net has suddenly failed Friday evening.
Sadly we have to wait for the provider maintenance to replace it, which will not happen before
Monday. Even this was almost impossible to accomplish. We have created a mirror this week,
however the IP routing is not yet active, and usually takes at least 48 hours (plus time shift
to the US, since the second DNS is running there).
New Flags
Oliver Tacke has send us nice new flags, which lead you to the translations of Amiga News (see top).
The flags are taken from the new GlowIcons series created by Oliver in cooperation with Thomas
Peterseim, Marco Schärfchen and Heinz Andreolla, available from Schatztruhe (GlowIcon Collection).
We were very happy about them, and want to say thank you :-).
Kickstart Amiga Group show is on!

Voodoo-X 1.2 released
Voodoo-X is a fast MUI interface for xadmaster.library. If you miss WinZip or something comparable

found on Aminet.
AMIGALAND to celebrate 8th birthday!
On March 8th, AMIGALAND had its 8th birthday! The big party will, as always, be celebrated in the
summer, and all of you are invited to join in. The exact date will be given later.
To survive in the Amiga market for 8 years is a very special achievement in my eyes! Congratulations
from our side :-) (ps)

AFD-Copyright News
The AFD-COPYRIGHT Official Support Site had just today its
1000th visitor! This shows that there still is interest in the
"Standard Amiga FD-Software Copyright Note".
The recent visitor boom happened partly due to the fact that
so many Amiga News sites reported about the latest release.
Thanks to all news-webmasters for your support!
I collected some of the sites on the page "What's New?"
If you are interested, you can visit the AFD-Homepage at:
http://AFD.home.pages.de/ (title link).
The list of news sites even includes one in Russia - and a Russian
translation will be released as the 15th language soon! Keep the
momentum going! Thanks!
Fun of Computing NG
The Amiga Zentrum Thüringen e.V. offers a computer meeting "Fun of Computing" every year,
a highlight not to be missed. On June 24th to 25th, a lot of interesting new hard- and software developments
can be discovered in the "Technologie- u. Gründerzentrum", Ilmenau. Fans of Amiga, and other
systems too, will find their time worthwile.
More informations about the "Fun of Computing NG" will be announced on the AZT e.V. internet pages
in the next weeks, and will be continously expanded. Interested exhibitors are asked to contact the AZT
board by e-mail.
MorphOS status
After MorphOS got attention by small pictures on their homepage (AmigaNews reported), there is now
a small status report on the project itself:
We are currently working on rewriting as many elemental parts of the AmigaOS as possible directly in
PowerPC code. The tests of the 68k emulation have been finished already for some time, and it works
reliable with Workbench 3.1 and 3.5. CyberGraphX, the CS PPC SCSI driver, the CDrive CD-ROM file
system and other stuff has almost completely been ported natively, to achieve best possible performance
even on the current CS PPC card generation.
The ppc.library has also been completed in a full PowerPC version (means the former 68k part is native,
too), so direct compatibility to PowerUP software is ensured, and available software is working directly
without special MorphOS adjustments. For software adhering to the original PowerUP specs there
shouldn't be a problem at all.
Since everything is running directly on the PowerPC CPU, the infamous CPU context switches for 68k
AmigaOS are removed, so PowerUP software is frequently running faster. Programs with many I/O
accesses or graphics output via AmigaOS can profit from this.
We are just now testing several PowerUP software products, and will soon publish a guideline as
well as a list of successfully tested software, so PowerUP software can employed under MorphOS
without problems.
We are working on a developer release; due to several hardware defects, the release date was
sadly delayed.
Working title: "Audiomaster 2000"
Frank Fenn (Bright Light Software) writes:
We (Michael Ulbrich and myself) have taken on the sources of AudioStream, which were released
on Aminet. The goal is to create an easy-to-use, not too complex sample tool in the style of the
classic Audiomaster IV. We consciously don't implement special functions like 2D/3D spectrograms,
since they are of little use for the home user.
Some features are (or are planned):
As soon as the first public version is finished, it will be offered for download on the homepage
above (title link). Of course we gladly accept suggestions.
CGXBlanker, DPMSManager update
Stefan Robl writes: I integrated numerous user wishes in both programs. CGXBlanker
version 1.25 now has an ARexx port, another very nice blanker module, does not get confused
by windows or screens popping up, and can optionally suppress blanking when the mouse
pointer is on the title bar.

Ncoder V1.55 released
Speed up under PowerUp. A 5.53 min song will be encoded in 3.31 min
(with PPC 604 233Mhz)! Bug fix for BurnIt Ncoder PlugIn. Large sound
quality enhancement compared with Ncoder 1.50.
Please note:
Under OS3.5 you have to disable Skin display if strange crashes occur.
Wrong installed datatypes are responsible for this. Please use the
datatypes provided with the NcoderCD. DON`T mix WarpUS Datatyes with
PowerUp version. If you use WarpUp make sure that you don`t use any
PowerUp software in background (e.g TurboPrint). DON`T use PPCInstall
in your Startup or Userstartup-sequence!! If Ncoder won`t start under
PowerUp. Please start PPCInstall before you start Ncoder. (PPCInstall
is included on BlizzardPPC and Cyberstorm SystemDisks).
AROS
There are still problems to make AROS native/i386 with EGCS
(GCC 2.95.2), but it should work soon. New screenshots were added.
DOOM is already partly playable on AROS.
Nobody knows precise details :-(. Sadly. To me it currently seems
to be the other way round. What I read from the last statements and
interviews with Bill McEwen and Fleecy Moss is that they want to
concentrate fully on TAO and their OS and do not plan to support the PPC.
Haage & Partner maintain silence in this matter. (ps)
PlayGui 2.5 and new skins released
PlayGui 2.5 is now available. If there are no bugs, this

Some bugs were fixed, now there's a requester for almost every
problem and Multiview is used for viewing the help file.

Amiga User meeting in Wolfenbuettel
After I received such a positive response in the amigaOS chat room about
the idea of a club independant amiga user meeting, I though I should follow
up on the idea.
The meeting will take place sometime in early summer (probably from
Saturday-Sunday on the 8th and 9th of July) here in Wolfenbuettel. At this
time I cannot make any statement about the program, since it is largly
dependant upon the amiga community itself. It is safe however to say that
barbequeing is on the adgenda. I will also try to get some "special guests"
to show up. First inquiries in this direction have proved to be very
positive.
We will try to keep the costs as low as possible. I will try to keep it
under 10,- DM per person. The costs however for lodging will most probably
have to be covered by everyone themselves. We may however be able to come
up with alternatives.
However before i can begin with planning, I need to know how many people
would like to attend. It would be great if you could send me an email if you
think you might be attending. (O.Tacke@surfway.de).
This is not a binding application, just a channel to voice your support.

AudioLabs: iRec for AmigaOS, live streaming audio reciever
AudioLabs announces iRec (internet Recording), live streaming MPEG capabilities for AmigaOS! This cool
feature comes embedded in any new ProStationAudio version, starting with the forthcoming Millennium
edition.
iRec is fully functional (monitoring and direct-to-disk recording) in the new ProStationAudio demo to be
available for downloading the first week of March 2000. Every AmigaOS user is encouraged to take advantage
of this new free tool.
Thanks to iRec, the ProStationAudio mixing console input (RecBus) can be switched between a local audio
board or a remote audio server, accessible via Internet or a LAN.
Once connected (Miami or compatible TCP stack required), iRec lets you record live MPEG streams. During
the streaming process, ProStationAudio allows you to monitor the incoming signal and record direct-to-disk,
with on-the-fly conversion from MPEG to PCM.
iRec is compatible with a large number of web-stations broadcasting in MPEG, including ShoutCast (TM)
audio servers.
Millennium saves your preferred iRec URL's into an external text file so that you can easily edit/process your
database or share it with other ProStationAudio users.
The ProStationAudio editing application requires a 68040/16MB system to start with, and is optimized for
hi-end configurations including up to two video cards, two monitors and two CPUs.
For more information about ProStationAudio please refer to the official sites:

Pictures of the MorphOS Team ;-)
At the very bottom of the MorphOS supportpage you can find "Bilder vom MorphOS Team" (pictures from the MorphOS team), for example
Ralph Schmidt alias "Al Bundy" and every other character from Al Bundy's surrounding. The question is what lesson should we get out of
this? That the MorphOs Team is a laugh? ;-).

(German print mag)
The new release of AmigaPlus has arrived. At first to remember: The magazine is now called AmigaPlus powered by AmigaOS. Highlights from issue 03/2000:
News goals of Amiga: Bill McEwen in Frankfurt
Fleecy Moss talking to Amiga Plus
The G3-Hope: met@box interview

Voyager 3 statusreport
Since the last update we have worked on a list of bugs and have done some changes. Right now we are concentrating mostly on finishing Javascript support and the improvement of the API plugins. Good news are certainly the fact that Emmanuel Lesueur has made his Apdf PDF-Viewer available as a V ³-Plugin.
Vflash has been rewritten in many parts and is a lot faster now than the earlier version. M68k version are already working very well. Zapek is working hard to finish the PPC-version.
During the next 2 weeks there will be a new Voyager-Version. Imagedecoder and Vflash-updates might be available earlier eventually.

Amiga Arena News
Due to the positive feedback for the Amiga Arena Aktion we got from Amiga users, I am able to sustain the special price sale of GeoWorld until 31.03.2000!
I want to thank all the users who have ensured their support and further developement of the software by their registration.
Amiga Forum completely reworked
We have reworked the graphics as well as the contents of our forum. Take a look at it and get your own opinion. Questions, suggestions and new ideas are always welcome.
The forum is, indeed, one of the subpages that already has been translated to English. In fact, it offers a German and an English
"chapter". The English one, however, has seen only a dozen posts or so. The forum is for you; use it! State your point of view, ask your
questions, tell us what you think of our service amiga-news.de. Aside from providing valuable (and motivating) feedback for us, the editors,
it might turn this forum from a dusty place into just the place to post to! (And yes, I am reading the forum myself regulary!) (mb)
